Actress Viola Davis has confirmed that she has been chosen to play Amanda Waller in the upcoming Suicide Squad film. Davis's role in the film Doubt (2008), earned her several honors, including an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress nomination and Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress – Motion Picture nomination. Her leading role in the film The Help (2010) resulted in her nominations for the Academy Award for Best Actress nomination and Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Motion Picture Drama. She clearly has the acting skill to command an important role in the Suicide Squad.The movie is set to hit theaters on August 5, 2016. The villains expected to appear in the Suicide Squad movie include Joker, Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Boomerang, and possibly others. The Suicide Squad is a DC Comics team of super-villains who are sent on dangerous (hence the term suicidal) missions by a mysterious government agency that needs bad things done to bad people without public knowledge of the government's involvement. Hence, the use of bad guys to whack other bad guys. Amanda Waller is the government liaison who manages this coterie of villains. Her first comic book appearance was in Legends #1, (November 1986).
